4.1 ev ownership

INTRODUCTION

Why Waiheke? –

Owning an EV is bliss, particularly on Waiheke – the electric island.  With its limited number of public roads, even a sub $10,000 early model Nissan Leaf will last for years and save in petrol costs and servicing alone, the cost of the vehicle in a few short years.

Unless you run into extremely rare problems, you take your EV into the garage once a year for a WOF and that’s it – apart from maybe new wiper blades or a replacement tyre or two.

Ownership is that simple – and by 2023, when the cost of EVs drops below that of petrol-powered vehicles, there will be no reason to ignore the “power without pollution” of EVs.

No air quality issues, no noise pollution – just quiet performance.

But don’t take our word for it, read what the government environmental agency (EECA) has to say about owning an EV….
